Solutions Engineers at Nearmap play one of the most critical roles in the company and have engagement with almost every other department at Nearmap. We strive to be trusted advisors to our customers and prospects and are heavily involved throughout the sales cycle.

This role will directly engage with and support Nearmap's strategic accounts in the commercial sector, which includes all customer segments apart from Government. You will work closely with Commercial Sales Leaders and Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) to support technical engagements. That support will include: discovery calls, basic demonstrations, advanced demonstrations showing integrations, proof-of-concepts, basic assistance and support for customers and prospects to design and implement custom applications that utilize Nearmap products through our robust stack of APIs, custom content creation, contract negotiations, and many other duties!

This position also has many internal functions, such as working with the Product team to improve our tech stack while capturing customer requirements and influencing the product roadmap, engage with Engineering on API development and testing, and work closely with Marketing to create content for marketing campaigns and host webinars and other marketing events, among many others!

What we are looking for

For this particular role we are seeking people with the following experience:

* Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field of study * Must have experience with APIs, programming, and building custom web GIS apps * Substantial practical and theoretical knowledge about AI and deep learning * Experience in working with 3D imagery in applications such as Cesium, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc. * Familiarity with Esri, AutoDesk, and Bentley applications preferred * 5+ years' experience in a position such as: Solutions Engineer, Civil Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist or similar with customer facing experience * GIS/Remote Sensing/Imagery experience preferred. * Understanding of the principles of Photogrammetry * Web development and programming experience required - specifically, familiarity with APIs, JavaScript, Python, image retrieval and processing, and web map development using OpenLayers, Leaflet, Esri, and Google SDKs, among others * Sales Engineers are autonomous. You must be someone who takes initiative, stays organized, and is willing to work long hours and go above and beyond * Strong time management and organization skills * Interpersonal skills are the backbone of this position. You must be a team player and communicate effectively in a group setting, one on one, and in writing. * Confidence in public speaking and presenting to customers * Creative and critical thinking skills to unlock the full potential of how Nearmap's product stack can be used to solve complex issues

A typical day for you may look like this...

* Perform discovery calls with Customers and Prospects to understand their current situation, problems they are trying to solve, their current workflow and data sources, and what their ideal state is * Become a trusted advisor by utilizing your technical expertise and understanding of Nearmap solutions to actively engage in strategy and client communications * Partner with US prospects and customers to understand their business constraints and requirements in order to recommend a solution that addresses the gap whilst identifying additional Nearmap products and services that would be of additional value to the client * Understand content delivery requirements, and advise on the best delivery method (APIs, Offline products, Custom Applications, AWS, etc) for customers to get the most value from Nearmap content and products * Builds relationship with key customer stakeholders serving as a technical liaison from pre-sales to post-sales * Build custom demos for Prospects and Customers, tailored to their software suite, situation, and ideal state * Build scenario-based demos that address specific use cases to be broadly distributed to support Sales and Marketing initiatives * Work closely with Sales to ensure that technical aspects are being considered when defining the people, process, and timing aspects of the sales cycle * Identify additional use cases, or areas for potential upsell to new products based on the customers current situation and ideal state * Facilitate integration, onboarding, and best practices with customers and provide basic technical support for these endeavours * Create technical demonstrations and documents for presentation to the customer describing the benefits of proposed solution * Attend Conferences, host speaking events and webinars, write blogs and perform other marketing functions to support the Sales Team * Participate in building a training program in cooperation with Sales Enablement for the Commercial Sales Team * Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams, as required, communicating customer and prospect feedback, product bugs and gaps, build custom solutions for strategic accounts, and test and provide feedback on Nearmap APIs and new product releases. * As necessary, assist sales and marketing with the development of technical content for webinars and trade shows * Work with Survey Operations for custom flights and offline products
