Working to drive product requirement alignment and timelines with a global, cross-functional technical team, you will be accountable to deliver unique materials with industry leading quality that delight our consumers. You'll be working in a highly collaborative environment, partnering closely with Product Management, Quality, and other Engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a technical product leader with experience establishing material performance requirements, growing supplier capability through technology and understanding.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Serve as the technical & manufacturing resource for materials interface with quality, sourcing, hardware engineering, sales, and marketingDevelop and contribute ideas for product design, construction, materials, and compounds to enhance functionality, user experience, duty, compliance, and profit margin.Develop meaningful material specifications based on user, quality, and application requirements.Generate technical development briefs to communicate product details to domestic and international development partnersEvaluate product team feedback and implement revisions as appropriate.Sign off on all specs prior to mass production qualification.Examine all prototypes to assure all specifications are correct and within product compliance, duty and cost targets.Contribute to user experience testing from early prototypes to final production material, implement product revisions as appropriate to meet user experience requirementsAchieve timeline milestones for sample deliverables at appropriate maturities.Maintain project status and files within Product Management systemAssist on production quality issues when ternational and domestic travel as required to achieve a high level of product development, including visits to manufacturing countries / factories.QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in material science/chemical engineering or mechanical engineering with direct materials experience10+ years of experience in materials product development.Strong organizational and communication skills, work ethic, and teamwork.Experience in polymers, adhesives, and raw material development preferred.Ability to define product specifications and establish test criteria to monitor production quality.Ability to tear down and analyze competitive productsStrong communications skills with experience communicating product details.Experience in developing supply chainExperience coordinating international counter partsProject management, specifically schedule definition and management experienceData and risk driven decision making capabilityDomestic and international travel required 4-6 times per yearAdditional InformationWhat to Do Next: Please attach your resume including links to your portfolio where applicable.
